“This is a nifty little tool that clarifies the relationships between musical tones on the Western scale. Once one learns what is being described, this tool is perfect for looking up a key signature, related keys, and the various chords associated with the major and minor scales. It even lists the modes that preceded the 12-tone scale that we use today, and which are the basis of Western Music. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 6, I am now 63. As a kid, I took lessons and spent 4 or 5 years learning notation and theory. The day I learned to play Louie Louie, the girls started to notice me. Well, it didn’t take long before I had me a little Rock & Roll Combo, as my musical education went out the window. That is a choice many kids make, which is simply instant gratification at best. Well, to make a long story short, my lack of a true grasp on theory has limited me immensely. I am again studying theory and this is but one very helpful tool in doing that. I’m having great fun learning the guitar again, after basically playing Louie Louie for over 50 years! – Douglas Elam

I think it’s most useful for transcribing tunes to different keys. A 2-chord song in c might have a c (1) chord and. g (5) chord. If you had to play it in d you’d know chords would be d (1) and a (5) – Joe San Filippo

This review will be a bit different from all of the others which expound on the virtues of the “Dial a Note – Dial a Harmony” wheel.
I am writing this to let all who read this that I can verify that this company has an extremely responsive service ethic.
I was a Service Account Manager for a major computer corporation. In this field business’s lose money when databases and systems are down. So believe me when I say I know Service.
In this case I had emailed the company and informed them that I had ordered the Wheel, but it had never arrived.
Within a very short time , John, emailed me back and informed me that another one was on the way.
Not only is this a very good product that will educate all who purchase one, but it is backed by a very reputable company (John)! Thanks again (I received the new one).

    • I took a music theory course some years ago, which covered the circle of fifths theory but, absent daily reasons to practice the concepts, the particulars have been forgotten. This is a very handy and convenient device to have readily at hand in the studio to clarify questions about key signatures, etc. – Dav Mar

I soooo endorse the use of this thing! I’ve managed to teach several music theory and notation-resistant kids how the whole thing works and why it more or less makes sense. Bravo, Dr. Duck! – Rick Rosen Musical Director for Cordus Mundy

It’s a massive dial of knowledge I received it in the mail, and it is honestly far bigger than I thought! It’s a nice cheat when you don’t want to think about the basic laws of music theory. Very handy!  – Geoffrey

This wheel is a useful crib device to figuring out transpositions from one key to another. It also has a way to identify modes (eg. Dorian, Aeolian, etc) in each key. Helpful for things like Celtic or medieval music.

I think it’s most useful for transcribing tunes to different keys. A 2-chord song in c might have a c (1) chord and. g (5) chord. If you had to play it in d you’d know chords would be d (1) and a (5) – Joe San Filippo

An amazing Wheel of Musical Knowledge – I’ve been playing guitar and studying music since I was 8-years old. Walter Piston’s “Harmony” has been my bible, until I just received your Wheel of Harmony. It contains an incredible amount of knowledge that is readily accessible and immediately applicable. I wish I’d discovered this years ago! Thank you so much.- M. Siteman
